Thank you so much for your interest in sewing classes! Currently, I am on hiatus from teaching. I’m so sorry. If you’d like to stay in touch, please sign up for the newsletter below. I will announce if classes and private lessons will resume. Thank you so much!

About Me

Hi there! I’m your Seam Guide, Leslie Bonnell. I’m a lifelong sewist and a former award-winning costume designer for my work in theatre, opera, and ballet. In 2001, I found myself needing a less stressful career, so I began teaching sewing in my Bouldin Creek private studio and immediately found it to be magical and rewarding. In sharing years of experience, tips, tricks, along with nurturing patience, enthusiasm, and humor, I’ve earned a loyal following.

In 2009, I wanted to be able to serve more students in a larger space, bring in wonderful new instructors, and offer modern fabrics, so I opened Stitch Lab on South 1st St. We developed wonderful classes, taught thousands of students of all ages, and loved serving as a creative hub for our community. We had a great run, until skyrocketing rent and property taxes caused us to close in 2017. That was tough.

After closing Stitch Lab, I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do next. As I deliberated, I gave my private studio a fresh makeover, which made the space feel more inspiring than ever. It took just one private lesson for me to realize that teaching has always been my true calling.

I love the one-on-one instruction in private lessons, as a time-efficient and personalized service to expedite reaching your sewing goals. I’m also excited about teaching classes to students who enjoy the social aspect of taking group classes. Keeping class sizes small allows me to give more attention to each student, which is very important to me.
